Pupils in Caterpillar Class are our oldest pupils at Penrose School. They follow a formal curriculum linked closely to the National Curriculum. They are taught discreet English and Maths and through a thematic approach explore and learn through the other subjects which include, The Arts, Science and Technology and Humanities.

Pupils are taught to be as independent as possible in Caterpillar, most pupils have their own workstations, where they have the opportunity each day to practice new skills and work on their own.

Their curriculum allows for risk taking, problem solving, collaboration, discussion and debate and where it is appropriate, some pupils have inclusion within a local mainstream school to challenge their learning and thinking skills further.
