Elmwood & Penrose are schools which teach students who have additional needs.  We are based in Bridgwater, Somerset.  We are all empathetic and have an awareness of the challenges our students face in their lives.  We have re-organised two special schools onto three sites.  We believe that our students need to experience the rights of passage to different buildings as they get older.  Penrose, the primary school, is based in Albert Street, Bridgwater and is a maintained Trust school.  The secondary school, Elmwood, is co-located with Robert Blake Science College on Hamp Avenue, Bridgwater and is a PFI.  The Jean Rees Centre 16-19 provision is based on the campus of Chilton Trinity.

Senior ICT Technician

Full time 37 hours per week all year round. To start in September 2019.

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic self-motivated IT professional with a breadth of IT experience for Elmwood & Penrose Federation. The ideal candidate will have experience of providing an excellent ICT service in a relevant setting.

It is an exciting time to join the Federation as we are currently designing a new school which we hope to occupy by September 2020. This is a great opportunity to join our team and be involved in working with the project team to design and build the IT infrastructure from scratch. 

This post starts in September 2019, to ensure the successful candidate is involved in this exciting journey from the very start. 

The post holder will be responsible for:

•      Effective communication and presentation skills – both oral and written.

•      Delivering excellent customer service both internally and with external professionals and contractors.

•      The management and configuration of network hardware, including managing the internet solution, phone and print solutions for the Federation and ensuring a stable and effective system across a mutli-site set up. 

•      Overseeing the Federation’s sensory solutions, including training, liaising with contractors and problem solving. 

•      To have an understanding of specialist IT equipment to support pupil’s communication, including eye-gaze, visual communicators, immersive solutions etc.

•      Being a team player, but being able to manage own workload and time.

HR & Admin Assistant - Permanent Position from September 2019

Grade 14 - Spine Point 4 - 6    Actual Annual Gross Salary: £9,511 - £9,896 £9.55 - £9.93 per hour

22.5 hours per week 39 Weeks per year. (Term time plus INSET days)

Term time hours of work: Monday 10 am - 5.00 pm (staff meeting) Tuesday - Friday 10:00 am to 2 pm. 

Elmwood & Penrose Federation are seeking to appoint an HR & Admin Assistant to join the existing office team. They will need to be motivated, organised, and reliable as well as being an excellent team player with a great sense of humour.  It is an exciting time to join the Federation as we are currently designing a new school, which we hope to occupy by September 2020. This is a great opportunity to join our admin team. 

The successful candidate will be someone whois able to support the HR Manager with all aspects of recruitment. They will also need a good range of IT skills and a sound knowledge of Microsoft packages including Excel, Word and Outlook. Experience in SIMS would be an advantage. The post holder will also be involved in assisting with the day to day administrative duties involved in working in a busy school office. 

This post is based primarily at Elmwood however there is a need for flexibility and you would also be expected to travel to the other sites.

Elmwood & Penrose Federation is a small Federation of two special schools which are at present split over three separate sites within Bridgwater.  Penrose School is situated on Albert Street, it is a small primary phase special school for children with a range of learning difficulties and disabilities. Elmwood School is a secondary phase special school and is co-located with Robert Blake Science College on Hamp Avenue. The Jean Rees Centre is a specialist Post 16 Centre which is situated on the Chilton Trinity site.
